The fourth in a REACHforLIFE's series of Roundtables focused on the question of how industry can better communicate to consumers on science. The event brought together participants from industry, academia, the EU institutions, the world of science and the media to discuss issues of interest relating the role and responsibility of industry in communicating on science.

In recent years consumer protection has taken an increasingly important place on the EU's policy agenda. On 19 March 2009, only a few days after the European Consumer Day, the second in a series of REACHforLIFE Roundtable discussions took consumer policy as its topic.
Following the success of the REACHforLIFE launch event on 10 September in Brussels, we are pleased to present a summary of the discussions and the main points which were expressed by the six panelists and members of the audience.
